About Friends of Benchley

Our Parent Groups

Friends of Benchley brings our parent-led efforts together under one shared name and one common purpose: supporting Benchley-Weinberger students, staff, and families.

Through the PTA, Foundation, Papa Pandas, and our many family volunteers, we work together to organize events, lead programs, raise funds, support classrooms, and strengthen our school community. Each part of Friends of Benchley contributes to the same collective effort, making it easier for families to understand what we do and find a meaningful way to participate.

PTA

The Benchley-Weinberger PTA focuses on family engagement, volunteer-led programs, community events, classroom support, and teacher and staff appreciation.

The BW Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works with families, sponsors, and community partners to fund needs across the school and help ensure that every student benefits.

Papa Pandas creates additional opportunities for parents and caregivers to connect, volunteer, and participate in school and community activities throughout the year.

The 5th Grade Committee is a parent-led group that plans and supports special activities and milestone events for our graduating 5th graders.

Meetings and Participation

Monthly meetings are open to anyone who wants to learn more, share ideas, or get involved. PTA meetings are typically held in the morning, while Foundation meetings are offered in the evening, giving families flexible options to participate in whichever time works best for them.

You do not need to attend meetings or hold an official role to volunteer. Families are welcome to help in whatever way works for their schedule, interests, and availability.

Fundraising That Supports Our School

Fundraising allows Friends of Benchley to provide programs, resources, and experiences beyond what traditional school funding can cover.

Major fundraisers include Raise Craze, Book Fair, Fun Run, and the Gala & Auction. Families can also support the school through dine-outs, Box Tops, community partnerships, business sponsorships, employer matching, and other easy giving opportunities.

Funds raised help support classroom supplies, teacher stipends, grade-level enrichment, technology and learning programs, library materials, cultural arts assemblies, campus improvements, outdoor education, PE and play equipment, student experiences, teacher appreciation, and additional support for students and families.

Everyone Is Welcome

A strong school community is built when families feel informed, included, and invited to participate.

Whether you volunteer for an hour, join a committee, attend an event, support a fundraiser, or simply help spread the word, your involvement makes a meaningful difference for Benchley-Weinberger students and staff.
