Get Involved!

Help bring one of our biggest fundraising events of the year to life. Volunteer opportunities include planning, securing auction donations and sponsorships, promoting the event, preparing auction items, decorating, and helping on event night.

Time commitment: Varies by role, from a single event-day 60-min shift to ongoing involvement in the months leading up to the Gala.

Help students discover their next favorite book while supporting one of our most-loved school fundraisers. Volunteers assist shoppers, organize books, run registers, restock displays, and help keep the Fair running smoothly.

Time commitment: Most shifts are 1–2 hours, with additional setup and teardown shifts available.

Volunteers can host a cultural table, assist with event setup or teardown, or welcome guests and check them in with their festival passports.

Time commitment: Varies by role, from a single event shift to additional preparation time for families hosting a table.

Spend one hour each week reading with an assigned group of students who benefit from a little extra grown-up support. The students do the reading while you listen, encourage them, and help build their confidence over time. It is a simple commitment that can make a meaningful difference, and it is incredibly rewarding to watch their skills grow.

Time commitment: One hour per week during the school year.

Help bring one of Benchley-Weinberger’s favorite family events to life. We are looking for an event chair to coordinate with returning vendors, organize volunteers, and keep the planning process moving. The event is already well established, with past materials and support available, so the role is more plug-and-play than starting from scratch.

Day-of volunteers can help with guest check-in, run activity booths, assist vendors, support setup or teardown, and keep the event running smoothly.

Time commitment: The chair role includes light planning in the weeks leading up to the event plus event-day coordination. Day-of volunteers can sign up for individual 60-min shifts.

Our yearbook is created entirely by parent volunteers!

Volunteers can take on a single page or event, serve as an event photographer, support the fifth-grade section, or step into a yearbook chair role. Chairs receive a detailed handbook and support from our yearbook company, TreeRing, and the role can be shared by two people.

Time commitment: Flexible by role, from occasional photo submissions or creating one page to ongoing planning throughout the school year. Yearbook chair manages ongoing communication throughout the school year. 

Help lead a simple, meaningful holiday service project for our school community. The chair connects with a local nonprofit partner, either by reestablishing a relationship with an organization we have supported before or selecting a new one, then coordinates the collection plan and toy drive assembly.

Past materials and contacts are available, making this an easy event to step into with plenty of support.

Time commitment: Light planning in the weeks leading up to the drive, plus coordination for the assembly.

Make race day colorful, encouraging, and fun for our students. Volunteers are needed to chalk the course, create signs, and cheer on our Pandas as they run during the Rainbow Fun Run on November 4, 2026.

Time commitment: One-time volunteer shifts before or during the event.

Help students connect with the natural world through our school garden program. Volunteers may assist with school-day garden lessons, support the after-school Garden Club, help prepare supplies, or pitch in with occasional garden maintenance.

The Muddy Pandas give every student opportunities for hands-on learning that supports classroom lessons, while students in kindergarten through fifth grade may also enter a lottery for a spot in the fall or spring Garden Club.

Time commitment: Occasional garden help, with opportunities available during the school day and after school.

Make the final year at Benchley-Weinberger extra memorable for our fifth graders. Committee volunteers organize fun fundraisers and special activities throughout the year, including bake sales, Friday Otter Pop sales, the Halloween Happening haunted house, and other fifth-grade celebrations and experiences.

Families can help lead a fundraiser, work an occasional sales shift, assist with an event, or pitch in behind the scenes.

Time commitment: Flexible throughout the school year, from one-time event shifts to ongoing committee involvement.
