Muddy Pandas Program
The Muddy Pandas Program & Garden Club, supported by the Friends of Benchley, gives every student the chance to connect with the natural world. During the school day, classes visit the garden for hands-on lessons that support and enrich what students are learning in class. Also, students in kindergarten through fifth grade may enter a lottery to secure a seat in the Fall or Spring after-school Garden Club.

We are proud to announce that Benchley Weinberger is the recipient of the Sage Garden Project Award for the 2026/2027 academic year. This means that in partnership with Friends of Benchley, every Panda in the school will receive at least 4 garden classes as well as 4 cooking from the garden classes this school year.
This is an amazing opportunity to get our kids outdoors and growing things, and learning life skills that will serve them well into adulthood, while reinforcing and supporting lessons they are already learning in the traditional classroom.
We will need grownup volunteers from each classroom to assist us in the garden when your Pandas' classes visit. Please reach out to your teachers to see when your class is coming in (we're still working on that schedule, so wait until the end of August to ask them), and make sure your volunteer paperwork is filled out.
